Overview
The AEKA Image Acquisition process refers to capturing, reviewing, and organizing patient images within the AEKA imaging module. A structured workflow ensures high-quality imaging, accurate diagnosis, and efficient clinical documentation.
This guide outlines best practices for acquiring, managing, and saving images within AEKA. Follow a consistent imaging process to minimize errors, reduce retakes, and improve overall workflow efficiency.
AEKA Image Acquisition Workflow
Step 1: Access Patient Imaging
- Select the patient using Global Search
- Navigate to the Dental Chart
- Select the AEKA Images Tab
|
Best Practice: Always confirm the correct patient before acquiring images to ensure accurate documentation. |
Step 2: Create a New Exam
- Select Acquire New Exam
- Put your cursor over the Template you want to use (e.g., Bitewing, Pano, Intraoral Camera) Favorite your most used for a quick start.
- Click Open over the template
Templates standardize image types and sequence, improving efficiency and consistency.
Step 3: Capture Images
- Plug in your imaging device (auto-detected by the system)
- Enable Auto Capture on the upper right corner (optimal) or click Capture on the tile itself (this will only capture an image for that specific tile)
- Green indicator = Ready to capture
- Red indicator = Processing
- Begin capturing images
- Review each image in the Preview Screen before proceeding
Step 4: Retake (Recapture) Images if Needed
If an image requires retaking:
- Hold your cursor over the image and select the Recapture icon on the top of the tile
- Capture a new image (Auto Capture or manual capture)
- Compare images in the preview
- Select the preferred image (original or new)
- Confirm selection or retake again if needed
Manage Recaptured Images
- Use Archive or Delete options for unused images
- Drag and drop selected images into the desired slot on the exam
|
Best Practice: Keep only relevant and high-quality images to maintain an organized and efficient imaging record. |
Add a New Image to the Sequence
If additional images are required:
- Select the + Create Slot Icon
Choose placement within the sequence
- Assign image type and tooth number (if applicable)
-
Select imaging type:
- X-ray (right, left, top, bottom)
- Intraoral Camera
- Pano/Ceph
- Plug in the appropriate device
- Capture the image
Step 5: Ensure Autosave is Active
- Once the sequence is complete, ensure autosave has been completed. This is visible by the Green
-
The exam will be saved in:
- AEKA Imaging Tab
- Dental Chart (for diagnosis and treatment planning)
|
Best Practice: Always ensure autosave is active so images are properly documented and accessible. |
