Purpose
The Walkout Balance Report is a daily operational report that helps dental practices track patient balances left unpaid after treatment is completed.
It measures how much patient financial responsibility “walked out the door” at the end of the day. The report uses real-time data and is available in two views:
Summary View (Primary View) – High-level overview of balances by date and location
Detail View – Patient-level breakdown used for investigation
Why This Report Is Important
Patient balances are one of the most common areas where collections are missed in a dental office. If balances are not collected before the patient leaves, they become outstanding accounts receivable that cost the practice more money and effort to collect.
Running this report helps practices:

It also helps staff quickly identify patients who should receive Text-to-Pay requests or follow-up communication.
When to Run the Report
The Walkout Balance Report should be run daily, typically at the end of the day before the office closes.
Running the report daily allows the team to immediately identify patients whose financial responsibility was not collected during checkout.
Using the report in this way helps practices resolve balances the same day instead of weeks later, which significantly improves collection success.
