CS Attachments (CSA) is a feature within CareStack that enables users to add electronic attachments while electronically sending out pre-authorization forms and claims. This functionality allows you to send various types of attachments with electronic claims without leaving the platform. CS Attachments is compatible with both DentalXChange and Change Healthcare clearinghouse options, providing flexibility for electronic claim submission.

Set Up Electronic Attachment Type to CS Attachments
First you need to configure electronic attachment settings. Perform the steps below.
Navigate to the System Menu > select Practice Settings > Payments & Billing > Services.
Click Billing Services.
Users will be directed to a complete list of all available locations.
Search for the specific Location and click on the row.
- In the Update Billing Service slide-out, click Electronic Attachment.
- Click Edit at the bottom right.
- Select the Use Account Settings as No.
- Select the Electronic Attachment as CS Attachments.
- The related information will be prepopulated.
- Review and click Save.
Once the process is completed,
Navigate to the System Menu > select Claims under Billing.
- Select the Documents Pending tab, and you can view the reflected changes.
- You can see claims with electronic attachments marked with a label stating 'CSA'.
Attach a Document to a Claim

To attach a document to a claim, perform the steps below.
Navigate to the System Menu > select Claims under Billing.
Select the Document Pending tab, and select the claim with the CSA label.
On the claim form, click Add Electronic Attachment.
In the CS Attachments slide-out, you can upload attachment details using any of the six methods by following the related Attachment Recommendation such as,

- If your practice does not use any clinical imaging software, use the Screenshot option.
- The user will find a one-time package installer.
- Click Download to proceed.
Scanner
- To upload a scanned image of a file, click the Scanner button and proceed as needed.
Browse File
- Click Browse Files to upload a file from the system.
| Tip: While uploading attachments to a claim, you can select PDF files to add detailed, multi-page documents |
- In the window that appears, you can attach individual or multiple files. To attach multiple files, we recommend:
- Ctrl + Click on the desired files (for Windows)
- Cmd + Click on the desired files (for Mac OS), Or,
- Click and Drag across the desired files to get them selected.
Windows
Apple (Mac OS)
- In the CS Attachments slide-out, the Attachment Name and Date Taken fields will be prepopulated.
- Select the Attachment Type.
- Use the Editing tools if required.
- Click Save or Save & Close.
Clinical Images
- Click Clinical Images.
- You can view all the available clinical images of the patient.
- Click Upload to attach the required images. You can upload up to 50 images.

In the CS Attachments slide-out,
- Select the desired Orientation.
- The File Name, and Date Taken will be automatically populated.
- File Name: Automatically populated using the original file name.
- Date Taken: The file’s creation or last modified date.
- Click Save or Save & Close, as required.
Perio Chart
To upload a perio chart from the patient profile,
- Click Perio Chart.
On the Select a Perio Chart pop-up,
- Select the desired perio exams from the grid.
- Click Attach Perio Chart to add it to the attachments.
- Select the attachment Type.
- Select the desired Orientation.
- The File Type, File Name and Date Taken will be automatically populated.
- File Name: Automatically populated using the original file name.
- Date Taken: The file’s creation or last modified date.
- Click Save or Save & Close, Save, or Delete File as required.
Notes
To attach clinical notes to the CS Attachments,
- Click Notes.
On the Select a Clinical Note pop-up,
- Select the desired clinical notes from the grid.
- Click Attach Note to add the selected notes to the attachments.
- Select the desired Orientation.
- The File Type, File Name, and Date Taken will be automatically populated.
- File Name: Automatically populated using the original file name.
- Date Taken: The file’s creation or last modified date.
- Click Save or Save & Close, as required.

Once uploaded, the Attachment Recommendation will display green checkmarks.
If any attachments are required, an orange warning icon will appear.
Once you have completed the attachment details and saved your changes, the attachments will be successfully attached to the claim.
- Enter the Narrative, if any.
- Click Upload & Submit.
- Click Save & Close to finish later.
Note: If an attachment submission fails due to network or processing errors, the claim will automatically revert to Document Pending, and users will be notified to retry the submission.
| Tip: If a claim is being resubmitted, use the History tab to view and reattach documents from previous submissions to the current claim. |
Once the documents are uploaded, navigate to All Claims to view the Claim Status as Ready to Send.
