Auto Recalculate is a feature, if enabled, that will trigger CareStack to automatically recalculate treatments every time you visit the Patient's Chart, Treatment Planner, or Appointment Details. As a result, insurance estimates and billing orders need not be manually adjusted when changes have been made. In effect, CareStack will automatically refigure the amounts of insurance portions if you add new insurance or make changes of that nature.
- Enable Auto Recalculate
Clients will have to request for Auto Recalculate to be enabled in their practice's system. This can be done by reaching out to Support and asking for it to be turned on. A side note of this feature is that it is environment-specific and not location-specific. Therefore, when the feature is enabled, it will be available for all of the practice's locations.
- Benefits of Auto Recalculate for Practices
The benefit of enabling Auto Recalculate is that practices do not have to always manually click on the Recalculate button each time an insurance is added or when a treatment plan is rearranged. It automatically updates the treatment plan when you visit the Patient's Chart, Treatment Planner, or Appointment details to make sure the information is still correct. Also, it helps remove incidental errors, such as forgetting to manually recalculate when adding insurance, adjusting hierarchies, or making adjustments.
- The Impact of Auto Recalculate on Estimates
Anytime a treatment is rearranged, billing information is updated, or insurance is added, Auto Recalculate steps in and computes the most accurate estimates. This removes the need for the team to remember to recalculate or to prevent benefits from being estimated in the wrong order (for instance, staying on a procedure later in the treatment plan instead of being estimated for a procedure moved to the top).

Lock Fee

Practices can use the Lock Fees feature to lock a manually adjusted fee for a limited timeframe. The office can set the timeframe. Let's see how this can be performed when adjusting fee estimates.
To do this,
- Search for the patient using the Global Search Bar.
- Hover over Clinical > select Treatment Planner.
Click on the desired code to open the Fee Details slider.
- Click the Fee Details tab and enter the new fee estimate as needed.
- Click Save.
| Note: The manually added estimate will appear updated but will not be retained if the fee is not locked due to the auto recalculation being active in the environment. |
- Right-click on the Code.
- Click on the Lock Fees option.
In the Lock Fee pop-up,
- Choose the default Set Lock Period.
- You can type in the desired number of days or select a date to lock the fee until.
- Click Lock Fee.

Unlocking the Fees
As soon as the fees are locked, you will see a lock icon next to the code. To unlock the fees,
- Right-click the code
- Select the Unlock Fees to revert the fee to its previously entered estimate.
- Auto recalculate will kick in at this point, and the fee may be changed due to the Insurance and other relevant factors.
