You may need to write off a patient's outstanding balance for reasons like bankruptcy, sending balances to Collections, transferring balances to the correct profile, etc. Let's go over how to write off balances for a patient account versus individually.

Write Off All Balances in an Account
- Search for the desired patient using the Global Search Bar.
- Hover over Billing.
- Select Payments.
Under the Account Summary section, click Write Off Balance.
In the Write-off Balances pop-up that appears,
- Select the Adjustment Code.
- Enter the necessary Remarks.
- Click Write-Off.
You will receive a toast notification stating, 'Patient dues written off successfully'.
Write Off Individual Patient Balances

In the Payment slide-out,
- Select the intended Codes with patient balances.
- Click the '+' button on the very right of the code.
- Select the Adj. Type.
- Select the Adj. Code.
- Enter the Adj. Amt.
- Click Add Adjustment & Apply.
A toast notification will appear stating,' Receipt added successfully.'
- The adjustment will be reflected in the patient's ledger.
- Select the Group Transaction icon to view all of the affected items.
You will see the linked transactions highlighted in red.
