An 'Appointment Status' in CareStack is used to describe the state of an appointment, typically in relation to the patient's position in the appointment process. These statuses can indicate whether an appointment is confirmed and where exactly the patient is in your appointment flow. CareStack includes predefined statuses for scheduled and checked-out appointments, yet you have the option to create custom appointment statuses tailored to your workflow needs.

Create a Custom Appointment Status
To create a custom appointment status,
- Navigate to the System Menu > select Practice Settings > Scheduler > Appointment Status.
- Click + Add Appointment Status.
In the Add Appointment Status modal, fill in the following details:
- Custom Appointment Status*: Enter a name for the custom appointment status.
- Description: Provide a description for the appointment status.
- Label*: Enter a label to display on the appointment. Labels can contain only one or two characters.

Color: Select a color for the label > click Apply.
- Once you have selected the label and color, a Preview will be displayed on the right side.
- Click Save when you are ready.
Manage Appointment Statuses
On the Appointment Status grid, you can view the custom appointment statuses. Let's explore the actions that you can perform here.
Edit an Appointment Status
- Click Edit on the intended status.
- Make the required changes.
- Click Save.
Activate/Deactivate an Appointment Status
To activate or deactivate an appointment status,
- Select the desired Custom Status.
- Click Activate or Deactivate as required.
- Click Ok on the Change Status confirmation modal.
- The change in status will be displayed on the grid.

Update Appointment Status Order
- To change the order of appointment statuses, simply click and drag the dotted handle to move them up or down.
View Appointment Status
Click the Legend on the Scheduler to view the newly created appointment status.
