Let's explore some additional actions that you can perform on the patient payments slideout where you add a patient payment or adjustment.

First, let us see how to navigate to the Patient Payments slide-out:
- Search for the patient using the Global Search bar.
- Hover over Billing.
- Select Payments.
- The Patient Payments slide-out will open up with the Add New Payment/Adj. tab as default.
- On the left side of the slide-out, you can see two tiles:
- Account Summary: The Account Summary refers to the breakdown of financial information related to a patient's account including a line item for the respective Account Members. It shows the Balance Due (Insurance and Patient), Total Balance, Unapplied Credits, Unadjusted Transaction Charges, and Net Balance.
- Patient Summary: The Patient Summary includes similar financial details but specifically for the individual patient rather than the combined account members. You can collapse the accordions of different patients of the account to see independent financial details.

Account and Patient Summary Actionability
The actions that you take in the slide-out at the account level and patient level are explained below.
Write Off Balance
You can write off the balance for the entire account, which may include other patients. To do this, perform the steps given below.
- Click Write Off Balance.
| Note: If you need to write off the balance for a specific patient only, you will need to make adjustments on each of the codes that the patient has a balance on. |
- A Write-off Balances modal will appear,
- Select the Adjustment Code.
- Enter Remarks to mention why you are writing off.
- Click Write Off once you are done.
Apply Credits
To apply unapplied credits to the codes, perform the steps given below.
- Click Apply Credits from the Account Summary tile.
- Choose Posting Preferences to prioritize the Oldest or Newest Codes First.
- Select the Tx. Location(s). The credits will be applied to codes from the selected location(s).
- Click Apply Credits.
+Add Card On File
CareStack provides the option to securely store a patient's credit or debit card information for future transactions on CS Pay from this slide-out. To do this, perform the steps given below.
- Click +Add Card On File.
- Select Location and Payment Type (Credit or Debit).
- Enter required Credit/Debit Card Information such as First Name, Last Name, Card Number, Expiry Date, and CVV.
- Enter Billing Address Information.
| Note: You can save the card by checkmarking the Save Card For Later Use checkbox. |
- Click Save Card on File.
Text To Pay
You can send a payment request via text message to patients by performing the steps given below.
- Click Text To Pay.
- A Text to Pay modal will appear,
- Select the Phone Number.
- Select Pending Dues or enter a Custom Amount.
- Click Send Message.
Go to Ledger
- Click this button to navigate to the ledger, where you can cross-check your payment receipts and other financial transactions of the patient.
Add Migrated Balance
CareStack allows you to add the migrated balances of a practice that is moving in from another system. Perform the steps below to add the migrated balance.
- Click Add Migrated Balance.
- Enter the required details, such as Location, Provider, Date of Service, Patient Amount, and Insurance Amount.
- You can add a Remark as a note for other users.
- The code will be added, and the code name will be MSB, which is the Migrated Starting Balance.
- Click Save.
Print Today's Summary
- Click Print Today's Summary to take a printout of the day's payment summary, which includes every payment that was made on a patient.
- The summary will be opened in a new tab, displaying useful information such as any transaction charge applied, payment receipts for a patient, along with the patient account insurance amount and the balance.
- It also can be used to get an overview of the aging summary, which is displayed at the bottom along with the payment plan contracted balance, remaining contracted amount, and the next appointment details.
- The summary can be handed over to the patients for a quick summary of everything that has happened on the day. This is also used for HSA and FSA requirements.
