In this article, we will take you through different actions regarding patient receipts.
Reversing and deleting a receipt are two different things that you can do with receipts in case you find something wrong with them. If you want a receipt to be removed, you can delete it. At the same time, if you want the applied credits to be reverted, you can choose to reverse the receipt.
When a patient has made a payment more than the required amount for treatment, the practices must refund the remaining credits or adjust them. Adjusting a receipt is an option that allows you to make adjustments to the payment and transfer the credits back to the patient.

Let's get started!
Marking a Check as NSF (Non-Sufficient Funding)
The NSF or Non-Sufficient Funding option allows you to mark a check with insufficient balance to do the transaction. This ensures that the payment can be tracked later, and the practices can contact the patient and collect payment.
To mark a check as NSF, perform the following steps:
- Search for the intended patient using the Global Search Bar.
- Click the Payment quick link.
- Navigate to Financial > All Payments on the Payment slide-out.
- Select the required payment by clicking its receipt number on the listing to view the receipt.
| Note: The payment must be in 'Check' to mark it as NSF. |
- Click Mark as NSF on the receipt.
- Click Proceed on the confirmation dialog box to continue.
Now all transactions performed with this receipt will be reversed, and the receipt will be marked as a 'non-sufficient fund' check.
