The Insurance Plans Report lists the number of patients or insurance holders associated with a particular insurance plan.
This report shows real-time data and is available in two views: Plans and Patients view.

Let's get started!
Navigate to the System Menu > select Operational Reports under Insights.
Click the + icon on the left or the Generate Report button on the right for the chosen report.
Explore below to learn more about the desired views, filter criteria, and results.
The Plans view shows the total number of patients added against each plan including the details like Plan Type, Carrier, Number of Patients with Active Insurance, etc.
Let us explore the filters:

| 1 | Location* | Select a location(s) to focus the report only on insurance patients associated with the selected default location(s). |
| 2 | Insurance Type* | Choose whether to display only dental insurance, medical insurance, or both. |
| 3 | Plan Types | Choose whether to generate the report for only a certain type of insurance plan, whether it is PPO, Medicaid, Co-Pay, or All. |
| 4 | Carrier | Choose whether to generate data based on the selected insurance carrier(s). |
| 5 | Employer | Choose whether to generate data based on insurance associated with the selected employer(s). |
| 6 | Insurance Plan | Choose whether to generate data based on the selected insurance plan(s). |
| 7 | Plan Status | Choose whether to focus your report on patient insurance that is either verified, pending verification, or choose to include All. *By default, All is selected. |
| 8 | Patient Status | Choose whether to focus your report on Active Patients, Inactive Patients or Both. |
| 9 | Group by Location | Select this option to group by location. |
Once you have selected the desired filters, click the Generate button to generate your on-screen report or Download Report As button to download your report.
Generation/Download Criteria
- Due to data volume, reports with more than 5 Treatment Locations will not generate on-screen.
- Reports meeting these criteria will be accessible in the Scheduled Downloads section.
Result - Plans View
Now, let us take a look at the results of the Insurance Plans Report (Plans View).
Time to explore the columns in the Report:
- Plan: The name of the insurance plan. On clicking this cell, the user is navigated to the insurance plan's details in practice settings.
- Insurance Type: The type of insurance coverage, whether it is dental or medical.
- Plan Type: The type of insurance plan, such as PPO, Medicaid, Co-Pay, etc.
- Carrier: The carrier associated with the listed insurance plan.
- Employer: The employer associated with the listed insurance plan.
- Plan Used By: The number of patients associated with the insurance plan.
- # Patients with Active Ins: The number of patients that have the insurance plan in active status.
- Plan Status: The current status of the insurance plan, such as verified or pending verification.
Click on the blue-colored entries to view the Patients view of the corresponding entry.
The Patients view shows patient-level information and details like Patient Name, Plan Name, Subscriber Name, Effective Date, Active Date, Hierarchy, etc.

Once you have selected the desired filters, click on the Generate button to generate your on-screen report or Download Report As button to download your report.

- Patient Name: The name of the patient.
- Patient ID: The system-assigned number used to identify the patient and their records. On clicking on the Patient ID, the user is taken to the Overview page of the patient's profile.
- Location: The default location of the patient associated with the insurance plan.
- Address: The address associated with the insurance carrier.
- Phone Number: The phone number associated with the insurance carrier.
- Relationship To Subscriber: The patient's relationship to the subscriber listed on their insurance plan, such as spouse, dependent child, or self.
- Subscriber Name: The name of the subscriber listed on the patient's insurance plan.
- Subscriber ID/SSN: The subscriber's ID or social security number used to identify the subscriber and their coverage.
- Eff. Date: The date the insurance became effective.
- Term. Date: The date the insurance was terminated.
- Act. Date: The date the insurance was marked as active in the system.
- Insurance Status: The status of the patient's insurance plan, such as active, pending verification, or terminated.
- Hierarchy: The hierarchy of the patient's insurance plan.
- Family Max Remaining: The amount of the family maximum remaining.
- Individual Max Remaining: The amount of the individual maximum remaining.
- Family Deductible Remaining: The amount of the family deductible remaining.
- Individual Deductible Remaining: The amount of the individual deductible remaining.
- Individual Ortho Max Remaining: The amount of the individual ortho maximum remaining.
- Individual Ortho Deductible Remaining: The amount of the Individual Ortho deductible remaining.
If users in your practice cannot use this report, please ensure that the relevant permissions are enabled.
To enable Permissions for the Insurance Plans Report:
Navigate to the System Menu > select Practice Settings > Administration > Profiles.
Click Manage Permissions for the intended profile.
- Select Insights.
- Check the Generate Insurance Plan Report box under Operational Reports to enable the permission.
- Click Save.
