Take a look at this tutorial for a brief walkthrough.
To add prescriptions for a patient, perform the steps below.
- Select a patient using the Global Search bar > click Menu > +Add Prescription.
| Tip: Alternatively, click on the +Presc quick link from the top ribbon to quickly access prescriptions. |
- Click +Paper Prescription on the slider.
- Enter a Title for the prescription to identify it.
- Select the Provider and Pharmacy for the prescription.
- The selected Pharmacy will display the name, address, and phone number.

- Select the required Drug(s) > click Apply.
- Enter the Quantity and number of Refills for the drug.
- Add Sig for the prescription which is an instruction on the amount and the right time to take the medicine.
- You can add optional information such as Dosage Form, Days, Start Date, and End Date for the prescription.
- Add any Notes for the patient, if needed. For adding diagnosis codes, select CPT codes from the Diagnosis drop-down menu.
- Checkmark 'Dispense as written' checkbox to render the prescription non-replaceable. The prescription cannot be replaced by another prescription and it will be locked.
- Click Save.
| Note: Only dentists or medical professionals with a DEA license can prescribe a drug. |
| Note: You can discard or void a prescription by clicking Delete next to the Dispense as written. |
Once added you can see the prescription listed on the grid. If you have marked it as dispensed as written, you can see the label '(Dispense as written)'.
You can view the Conditions and Allergies of the patient displayed under Medical Alerts on the right side of the slider. The Current Medication of the patient is also shown just below. If you want to add the current medication, click +Add.
