If an error is made during the insurance posting process, a user can easily undo all payments and adjustments posted against the claim, and the claim will be reopened. This can be done right from the insurance payments page without having to navigate to the patient's ledger.
Let's get started!
Navigate to the System Menu > Insurance Payments under Billing.
Select the insurance receipt with the transactions you want to reverse under Pending Posting.
- In Applied Payments under Transactions, Payments to reverse claims will appear.
To reverse specific payment(s) made against a claim:
- Click on the down arrow beside the Reverse Claim Payment.
- Checkmark the intended Payment(s) to reverse claim(s).
- Click Reverse Payments.
- A Reverse Payment(s) modal will appear.
- Checkmark the intended claim(s)
- Click Re-open Claim and Proceed to reopen the closed claim.
To reverse the entire payments made against the claim:
- Click Reverse Claim Payment.
- A Reverse Payment modal will appear.
- Checkmark the intended claim(s)
- Click Re-open Claim and Proceed to reopen the closed claim(s).
- You will receive two toast notifications stating 'Claim payments reversed' and 'Claim(s) Reopened Successfully' messages as shown below.
- You will also notice the remaining Available Credits have been updated on the insurance receipt to reflect the amount that has been reversed.
- To review the transaction history of this insurance receipt, check out the History tab.
Please Note:
- If there is a higher-order claim generated that is still in a status that can be deleted (Saved, Saved with Errors, or On Hold status), then the generated claim must be deleted before this claim can be reopened.
- If there is a higher-order claim generated that is now in a status where it can't be deleted, you will only be able to reverse the payments and adjustments; the claim will not be reopened.
