CareStack AI Scribe simplifies the clinical note-taking process by capturing audio notes during clinical sessions and converting them into structured clinical notes. This helps you focus more on your patients while the scribe helps capture the details.

You can use CareStack AI Scribe in the following ways:
To begin,
Select the patient using the Global Search bar > select Clinical.
Create Clinical Notes Using CareStack AI Scribe
- The CareStack AI Scribe button is located next to +Note. Click it to activate the tool.
Note: Enable the necessary microphone permissions in your browser to allow CareStack AI Scribe to capture audio during the clinical session. |
- When the scribe starts, a waveform and timer appear under the Notes section. That's your cue that the scribe is actively listening.
How AI Scribe Works?
After initiating AI Scribe,
- You can dictate findings and treatment details directly, or use AI Scribe as an ambient listener during the patient visit.
- Click
Pause to temporarily stop recording and
Resume to continue.
- Use Switch Microphone if you need to change the audio input device.
- Click Switch AI Template to select a different AI template for generating notes.
- When you are finished recording, click
End Session.
- If you do not want to continue working with the current note choose Stop and End, the captured conversation will be added to the slide-out as a transcript.
- AI Scribe then organizes the information based on the selected template and populates the note responses.
- Review the generated note and make any necessary edits.
- To add more information, resume the recording and continue dictating. Regenerate the note to include the newly captured details, then review the updated content before saving or finalizing the note.
- Once you have reviewed the generated content, click Save as Draft to continue editing later or Finalize Note to complete the note.
Use AI Scribe with Care Note Templates
You can also use CareStack AI Scribe via the +Note feature by choosing from the templates set up in Practice Settings. Click here to learn about how to add care notes.
Note: When a template is added using Open in Chart or the '/' shortcut, it is inserted directly into the Care Note section and does not open in the Expanded View.
- After selecting the template, click CareStack AI Scribe to initiate audio capturing.

Fill Template Responses in Expanded View via CareStack AI Scribe
You can also use CareStack AI Scribe while completing a Care Note in the Add Care Note slide-out (Expanded View).
- Select Fill with AI Scribe.
- Dictate the information you wish to record.
- Pause or End the session as desired.
- Once you stop recording, the Care Note will be populated with the recorded data along with its summary. The data will be organized based on the recording and the selected Care Note template.
- You can either Finalize, Save as Draft, or Cancel as needed.
Best Practices
- Speak clearly and naturally, no need to dictate punctuation or special formatting.
- You can either dictate findings directly or speak naturally during the patient visit while AI Scribe captures the conversation.
- When documenting findings, diagnoses, treatments, medications, or measurements, mention the relevant context along with the value. For example, say "Tooth 19 has distal caries" rather than simply "19".
- Review generated notes before finalizing to ensure clinical accuracy and completeness.
- Resume recordings whenever you need to add follow-up details instead of starting over.
To invoke the CareStack AI Scribe Slide-out,
- Select the patient using the Global Search bar.
- Hover over Clinical > select AI Scribe.
- Upon opening the CareStack AI Scribe slide-out, the most recently created note is displayed automatically on the right.
- On the left all the recordings are listed in reverse chronological order, ensuring the latest recordings appear at the top.
- Use the Provider filter to view recordings created by a specific provider.
- Filter recordings by date range by selecting the required dates from the date picker.
- You can view the captured conversation under the Transcript tab.
- To create a new Care Note, click + Create New and select an existing template from the system.
- Any newly added template will appear as a separate tab alongside the existing note tabs.
- Use Copy to Clipboard to quickly copy the note content to your clipboard.
- To delete an individual recording, hover over the recording and click the bin icon.
- To delete multiple recordings, simply hover over them and select the intended items and click Delete.
